This thesis is an analysis of the process of criminalization of the working class, as one of the expressions of barbarism. Through the analysis of some works of important authors, especially Marx, Lukacs, Engels, Mészáros, Netto, Lessa and Tonet, sought to expose the nodal aspects of the criminalization process. From a Marxist perspective, it is shown how the work is the basic category of the world of men, being essential to the social being and social relations, as well as other categories such as the state and the law, both vital in legitimizing the crime. It is shown that the complexes of the state and law are classes of instruments of domination, serving only the interests of the economically dominant class. Without these categories criminalization of the working class would be unthinkable. It appears that the criminalization of the working class is one of the prerequisites for the development of capital, and that the state and the law are essential in this process. It then passes to the analysis of the genesis occurred as the criminalization of the exploited class and the growth of the operating situation and degradation of the working class, functional development of capitalism. It addresses the struggles of the working class against capital, occurring since the nineteenth century to the present day, although today such struggles find themselves vulnerable. This results from the structural crisis experienced by the capital since the 1970s until nowadays, this crisis that affects the entire society and viscerally affects the mobilization of the working class. Finally, it is emphasized that humanity is not doomed to succumb to this reality as barbaric and inhuman, as there are only two alternatives: socialism or barbarism.
