The rapid growth of cities and the lack of detailed and accurate information about their expansion has been a matter of concern to the urban planning bodies. Given these problems and the need to obtain effective cartographic information for the development of urban planning, it was decided to present in this work the potential of the municipality of Teotônio Vilela - AL, understanding the importance of maintaining an updated cartographic base that meet the specific needs of each region, making it easier to view and helping to address gaps in the lack of basic infrastructure encountered. With the aid of the dual frequency geodetic global position system (GNSS), the field points were collected and a survey was carried out to obtain a large amount of information representative of the territory for the purpose of study and site planning. The following software was used: Topcon Tools, GoogleEarth, Mapgeo, Topograph and Autocad 2D, where, after processing the data, it was found that the information has accuracy to update or deploy the cartographic base in that location.
