Maturação sexual da Carapeba listrada (Eugerres brasilianus, Cuvier 1830) na Foz do Rio São Francisco.

This work aimed to obtain information on the length of sexual maturity, reproductive period and habitat of carapeba (Eugerres brasilianus) captured at lower San Francisco river. The samples were realized in the period between the months of April 2013 to March 2014 in two points located in the region of Piaçabuçu, Alagoas state, with use of caceia net. The Individuals were identified, placed in plastic bags and disposed in thermical boxes with ice until transport to the laboratory for extraction of data morphological, and gonadal analysis. The Identification of gonadal stages and maturation sex were performed by visual observation (scale of Vazoller, 1996) and by analysis of caracteristics primary and secondary. 105 females and 26 males totaling 131 specimens were identified. 37 females fishes and 6 males fishes were in maturation (stage B) and / or mature (stage C) during the months from May to September. The calculation of gonadossomatics indices showed that the months from July to September, obtained higher measures of gonads in females and in the months June and August in males. In the winter predominated greater number of mature females, while mature males were observed in the period between autumn and winter. The average lengths of sexual maturity for males and females were 17,40 and 18,2. The reproduction of carapebas is realized in the rainy season in areas of higher salinity, near the estuary of the São Francisco River.
