Resumo: The World Health Organization declared on March 11, 2020 the pandemic of covid 19, with the first case confirmed in Manaus, AM on March 13, 2020. To contain the increase of the number of infected, social distancing and restriction measures were proposed to the entire population, among them is the suspension of elective dental care, recommended emergency consultations, in addition to quarantine and immediate isolation. The present study aimed to analyze the impact of covid 19 in children's dental outpatient services of the Basic Health Units in the city of Manaus AM, in the pre-pandemic and pandemic period. The research is characterized by an analytical, descriptive, with a quantitative approach, using secondary data collected through the Health Information System for Primary Care (SISAB), of children from 0 to 12 years old treated at the Basic Health Units (UBS) between January 2019 and July 2022, with the age group divided into four groups: 0 to 1 year, 1 to 4 years, 5 to 9 years and 10 to 12 years; sex: male and female; type of care: with scheduled consultation and then with spontaneous demand consultation on the day, with these data being exported to the Microsoft Excel program. For data analysis, two steps were performed from the SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) software on 20.0 version, the first a descriptive analysis considering the measures of the center of distribution and the second bivariate analysis that was calculated the student's t test for independent samples with a 95% confidence level. The results show that fewer procedures were performed during the pandemic, with a 37.65% drop in the total period evaluated, this decrease is caused by restrictions on care during the pandemic period due to high incidence and mortality rates, in addition to the fear of infection of the patient and dental surgeon, lack of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), Fake news about vaccination and recommendation to use minimally aerosol-generating equipment, which may also have contributed to the fall of procedures performed, being observed that the most performed infant dental procedure was extraction of deciduous tooth (p<0,05), and that there is no difference between the sexes of the children taken to the dental office. Thus, we can conclude that the pandemic caused a repressed demand that needs to be met to minimize oral problems caused by the sudden interruption of elective care.

Thus, we can conclude that the pandemic caused a repressed demand that needs to be met to minimize oral problems caused by the sudden interruption of elective care.
