The growth of violence in Brazil, especially in large urban centers, has aroused a great deal of discussion about the consequences as well as its costs. Such a discussion is of fundamental importance, as the results can adequately guide the allocation of public resources to certain programs that aim to reduce these events in accordance with the principles of efficiency and effectiveness, which are based on the costs and benefits involved. Therefore, we aim to analyze the main impacts of urban violence on the socioeconomic problems. As for the methodological course, it is a qualitative research of a bibliographic and documentary nature of descriptive type that was based on the use of secondary material already published and made available through books, articles, scientific journals and material available on the internet that served as a basis for the theoretical construction with the purpose of meeting the objective of the research. As for the data and results, content analysis was used. The socioeconomic situation is a problem of violence in Brazil, it is understood that the country's problem is of a structural nature. Problems related to family breakdown, low education, lack of employment opportunities and income inequality affect public security. Among the alternatives to reduce crime in the country is to develop more public policies, including mechanisms to reduce socioeconomicinequality, better implementation of income transfer programs and incentives for learning.
