Resumo: Diabetes mellitus is an important and growing health problem in all countries, and the mortality rate is increasing every day due to the high risk of complications, whether acute or chronic. The main objective of this work is to characterize the pharmacoepidemiological profile of diabetic users registered in the Itacoatiara Basic Health Unit. The study is retrospective, descriptive with quantitative approach, with information collected from records. Fifty medical records were analyzed, of which 62% belonged to males, and 38% corresponded to the female sex. The mean age was 58.28 and the minimum age observed was 21 and the maximum was 76. It was found that 8% patients had type 1 diabetes, and 92% had type 2 diabetes. The mean weight between both sexes was 74.4 kg. Regarding the presence of comorbidities, systemic arterial hypertension was identified in (54%), dyslipidemia in 6%, and obesity in 8%. Among the acute complications, hyperglycemic decompensation was observed in 82%, and chronic complications such as nephropathy in 8%, and diabetic foot in 4%. It was found that the main oral antidiabetic drugs prescribed were: glybenclamid 76% the most frequent drug, followed by metformin 64%. To treat AHS, the most frequent antihydrate was losartan 34%. A reasonable percentage use of acetyl salicylic acid 26% and syvastatin 10% was observed. Analyzing pharmacological adhesion, it was identified that 74% registered patients made correct use of the medications, and 24% with irregular use of prescribed medications. In view of the results presented, it was verified the importance of increasing knowledge about diabetes in relation to the main drugs indicated for the treatment of the pathology, with greater pharmacological support in line with pharmaceutical care.
