Uma avenida, uma rua, uma praça: a requalificação da praça Itaúba, um estudo na Zona Leste de Manaus

In the present work, the study of free urban spaces is emphasized, in order to highlight and requalify an area located in the east zone of Manaus. An area that has been consolidated over the last few years as a spontaneous occupation that resembles a square. However, it is a place that is mostly used at night, both due to the conditions in which it is found, and due to the lack of adequate equipment for a quality space. However, despite not having elements that characterize a square and much less an adequate infrastructure, the location has huge potential to be a great leisure space for the neighborhood's population, as they are largely lacking in public leisure spaces. Thus, after studies of the existing space and the neighborhood as a whole, we proposed an intervention in the space where the square is located today, relating its functions to the demands of the resident population and the characteristics of their built surroundings, aiming to requalify this space that currently poses a danger to its users. The results of the on-site survey, given the conditions of cleanliness, afforestation, soil permeability and noise pollution, present risk factors for increased temperature and thermal discomfort, air, soil and visual pollution, as well as increased risk factors for deafness or hearing loss. In light of these findings, it is necessary to carry out conceptual studies to deepen the theoretical framework and, through case studies of urban and landscape projects to try to base the solutions that reduce the problems encountered during the preparation of this research. After all the notes that reflect on the theoretical and empirical synthesis of the space and its surroundings, these data will serve as a basis to guide the definitions of the guidelines which, in turn, will indicate the best actions to provide full use of the studied space.
