Resumo: | This work aims to analyze how the appropriation of memes contributes to the discourse in news-related channels, seeking to understand why the use of memes is becoming a frequent resource in journalistic narratives on the internet. To achieve this, references were sought from researchers and works on digital journalism, internet memes, and internet research methods, such as Vasconcellos (2017), Bauman (2010), Ivana Bentes (2015), Lévy (1996), Sodré (1982), and DAWKINS (2007). Methodological procedures were established as a cohesive fusion of multiple elements, predominantly qualitative to enable a deep and contextual analysis of the studied phenomena. With simultaneously exploratory and explanatory objectives, the combined strategy integrated extensive bibliographic research as a theoretical foundation, followed by a qualitative analysis of data, using categorization, coding, and interpretation approaches. Data triangulation strengthened the validity of conclusions, while the flexibility of the methodology allowed the continuous incorporation of new perspectives. The feedback loop between theory, data, and interpretations resulted in a robust and informed analysis. The methodological structure, supported by "Research Methods for the Internet" by Fragoso et al. (2016), addressed the challenges of internet analysis, considering its fluidity and complexity. After the analysis, it was concluded that memes play a crucial role in digital journalism, going beyond entertainment. In addition to condensing complex information in a shareable format, they organize and amplify discussions about news. Reflecting cultural values, they integrate into dialogues and humanize journalists by showing their relaxed side. In an information-saturated environment, memes are effective tools to capture the audience's attention and direct them to more substantial content. They are not just online jokes; they are navigation tools that, when understood by news portals, strengthen solid connections in a competitive digital environment. |

In an information-saturated environment, memes are effective tools to capture the audience's attention and direct them to more substantial content. They are not just online jokes; they are navigation tools that, when understood by news portals, strengthen solid connections in a competitive digital environment.
