Resumo: The increase in waste generation and its inadequate disposal is a worrisome problem nowadays, since many cities in Brazil still do not meet the National Solid Waste Policy Law No. 12,305/2010, with regard to exhausting the practice of disposal of Solid Waste in dumps. In this sense, the aim of this study was to evaluate the physical-chemical characteristics of maumy fruits and soil attributes in an area under dump in the municipality of Humaitá-AM. Four soil collections were performed with 3 replications in the different seasonal, dry (October and November 2021) and rainy (March and April 2022) periods, totaling 48 samples. Fruit samples (papaya) were collected in the different seasonal periods in the dump and randomly in the dry season in Humaitá and Porto-Velho. The fruit samples were taken to the Chemistry Laboratory, Humaitá Campus, to perform the physicochemical analyses: Carbohydrates (total sugars, reducers and non-reducing), pH, moisture and titratable acidity. The analyses were performed according to the analytical standards of the Adolfo Lutz Institute-Physicochemical Methods for food analysis (2008) and Laboratory Methods of physicochemical and microbiological analysis. According to the results, the sugar values are higher in the dry season, presenting an average variation of 9.94% and an average of 4.18% in the rainy season for the "dump" samples. For pH, the values varied on average 5.66 and 5.63 in the different seasonal periods in the dump. For acidity, the mean percentage was lower in the rainy season 0.15% and higher in the dry 0.24% in the dump samples. For humidity, the values increased in the rainy season 94.54% and decreased in the dry period 89.22% in the dump. The average soil temperature was higher in the dry season (30.1°C), and decreased in the wet season (27.4°C). Inverse behavior in soil moisture with lower mean value (13.5%) in the dry season and higher (18.6%) in the wet season. soil pH was lower during the dry season (5.2) and higher in the humid period (5.55). Organic matter had the same behavior, with an increase in the wet season (6.5%) and a decrease in the dry season (5.3%). It was verified that there was variation in sugar content in the fruit of the maize, evidencing that the variable was affected by seasonality, as well as in soil samples in the 'dump'.
