We are interested in this work to analyze the disputes around the legal representation of the metallurgical category in 1984, with the attempt of division from the creation of the Union of Workers of the Electric, Electronic and Similar Material Industry of Manaus, dismembered of the Union of Workers of the Metallurgical, Mechanical and Electrical Industry of Manaus. We understand that this dispute was an attempt to fragment the category with the aim of cluttering the tenure of the new board elected that same year, especially in a context marked by union renewal and changes in labor relations between employers and employees. Understanding the union's action in the face of political disputes around the union duplicity of metallurgists in the Labor Court is the objective of this brief discussion.
