Resumo: This paper aims to comprehend the transformations in Pampa Gaúcho rural space. It is based on qualitative analysis. Methodological procedures are: bibliographic survey and analysis, photographic collection obtained through fieldwork, analysis and organization of data and information cross-referencing. Transformations in rural space of the Pampa Biome in Rio Grande do Sul are notorious, above all, for the technological modernization of agriculture that causes changes in production, work and life of rural citizens. Advance of modern agriculture has caused a loss of biodiversity, characteristic and specificities of Pampa population. Inducing visible changes in the landscape, mainly observed by reduction of pastoral activities and other elements that traditionally and culturally were in this place. Pampa is a heterogeneous area, with specificities and particularities, both in terms of environmental issues and social and cultural aspects. It is necessary to have alternatives of rural development adequate to Pampa singularities, that value natural and socio-cultural wealth available.

Está embasado em análise qualitativa, e os procedimentos metodológicos utilizados foram o levantamento e a análise do material bibliográfico, a coleta foto- gráfica obtida através de trabalhos de campo, a análise e a organização, realizando o cruzamento dos dados e das informações. As transformações no espaço rural do Bioma Pampa no Rio Grande do Sul são notórias, sobretudo, pela modernização tecnológica da agricultura que provoca mudanças na produção, no trabalho e na forma de vida dossujeitos do campo. O avanço da agricultura moderna tem ocasio- nado perda da biodiversidade, das características e das especificidades da população pampeana, acarretando transformações na paisagem que são visíveis, observadas principalmente pela diminuição das atividades pastoris e dos demais elementos que, tradicional e culturalmente, estavam presentes neste espaço. O Pampa é um espaço heterogêneo, com uma série de especificidades e particularidades, tanto nas questões ambientais quanto nos aspectos sociais e culturais.
