Resumo: This article aims to present an overview of the performance of the Jair Bolsonaro government, between the years 2019 and 2022, in public cultural policies in the country. Based on numbers, official records and in the press, it seeks to think about the impact that this period brings to the notions of culture, politics and citizen participation, dialoguing with the theoretical support of authors such as Nestor Garcia Canclini, Albino Rubim, José Carlos Durand, Marilena Chaui, Lilia Schwarcz, Boaventura de Sousantos, Hannah Arendt, Renato Ortiz and George Yude, among others. Based on an observation of manifestations of resistance, especially by native peoples, it concludes by bringing proposals to think about the role of communication and media literacy for cultural policies in Brazil.

A partir de cifras, registros oficiales y en la prensa, se busca reflexionar sobre el impacto que este período trae a las nociones de cultura, política y participación ciudadana, dialogando con el sustento teórico de autores como Néstor García Canclini, Albino Rubim, José Carlos Durand, Marilena Chaui, Lilia Schwarcz, Boaventura de Sousantos, Hannah Arendt, Renato Ortiz y George Yude, entre otros. A partir de una observación de manifestaciones de resistencia, especialmente de los pueblos originarios, concluye trayendo propuestas para pensar el papel de la comunicación y la alfabetización mediática para las políticas culturales en Brasil.Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar um panorama da atuação do governo Jair Bolsonaro, entre os anos de 2019 e 2022, nas políticas públicas de cultura do país. A partir de números, registros oficiais e na imprensa, busca pensar o impacto que este período traz para as noções de cultura, política e participação cidadã, dialogando com o suporte teórico de autores como Nestor Garcia Canclini, Albino Rubim, José Carlos Durand, Marilena Chaui, Lilia Schwarcz, Boaventura de Sousantos, Hannah Arendt, Renato Ortiz e George Yude, entre outros.
