Culture in the city of São Paulo: between cultural deserts and non-institutional initiatives

Resumo: A variety of factors influence the restriction of the approach of people to cultural equipment, which is everyone's right. In this sense, this article aims to collaborate with the debate on the expansion of the right to the city and, more specifically, to culture, using the city of São Paulo as an analysis case. Therefore, the analyzes are divided into two strands: one of quantitative methods, based on geoprocessing technique, and the other of qualitative methods, especially bibliographic analysis and direct observation. The results indicate the strong presence of cultural deserts on the outskirts of the city, where non-institutional cultural initiatives are also established, as forms of resistance and alternatives to them.

Nesse sentido, este artigo coloca-se com o objetivo de colaborar com o debate da ampliação do direito à cidade e, mais especificamente, à cultura, utilizando como caso de análise a cidade de São Paulo. Para tanto, as análises se dividem em duas vertentes: uma de métodos quantitativos baseados em técnica de geoprocessamento; e outra de métodos qualitativos, especialmente análise bibliográfica e observação direta.
