Resumo: In the current context of technological innovation, intellectual property and technology transfer policies, the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Pará (IFPA) is experiencing a paradox that involves institutional documents and current legislation. This article is based on a research carried out in the Pedagogical Course Projects (PPCs), research and innovation announcements, innovation policy and other resolutions approved by the IFPA Board of Governors, in order to present and discuss the legal framework that involves the production academic The main legislation on innovation and intellectual property and the aspects surrounding the institution's policies were studied. However, it has been pointed out that current institutional documents promote an inconsistency between existing legislation and such instruments. Thus, it is necessary to discuss adjustments that can minimize these impacts, improving institutional documents and enhancing IFPA's teaching, research, extension and innovation activity.

O presente artigo é baseado pesquisa que utilizou Projetos Pedagógicos de Curso (PPCs), editais de pesquisa e inovação, política de inovação e outras resoluções aprovadas pelo Conselho Superior do IFPA com objetivo de apresentar e discutir o arcabouço legal que envolve a produção acadêmica. Foram estudadas as principais leis sobre inovação e propriedade intelectual e os aspectos que envolvem as políticas da instituição. Evidenciou-se que os documentos institucionais atuais são incongruentes em relação à legislação vigente.
