Resumo: Research project management systems can reduce errors, promote speed and credibility to processes. The objective of this work was to carry out a survey of patent families and computer program registrations related to the management of research projects, as well as the participation of Brazil in the national and international patent scenario related to the subject. From the INPI search, six computer program certificates were identified using the descriptor “research project” in the title field and only one result for a resident's patent. The search using Orbit identified 124 results, with most deposits from companies located in China, the United States, and the Republic of Korea. There are higher education institutions that do not use the proposed technology, constituting a possible consumer market. In addition, new products derived from the proposed system, the necessary technologies and competing markets to be considered were identified.
