Resumo: In face of the uncertainties associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, the objective of this paper is to assess the correlation between indicators associated with Scientific and Technological Production (STP) obtained from a prospective study of patents and papers about pandemic viruses, and also those associated with human health impacts the number, obtained from the research on the annual number of infected and deaths. For this, Questel Orbit was used to research patents, SCIELO and CAPES to research articles and the official health databases, national and international, were used to get the number of infected and deaths, followed by Tukey's analysis at 5%, Spearman method and Principal Components Analysis (PCA). Two clusters were identified, one of them formed by the coronavirus, H1N1, H3N2 and H5N1. There are different correlations between the STP for the each viruses, whose results confirm the need for investment in STP to cope with this and future pandemics.
