Resumo: The use of brands is an important factor for the recognition of companies from the most diverse economic segments. This research aimed to identify the panorama of trademark protection used by gyms. It consisted of an exploratory research, with a quantitative and cross-sectional approach. Using the prospective method of spot monitoring. Most of the gyms surveyed use Brand (85.71%). The number of these academies that have a trademark registration is quite small (7.14%). The profile of local gyms that have protection for their brands is that of gyms that are part of national networks, franchises or large gyms. The most worrying data found in this research is the high number of gyms using trademarks previously registered by third parties in the same category, or that have registration requests in progress or rejected.

Esta pesquisa tem o objetivo de identificar o panorama da proteção de marcas utilizadas por academias de ginástica. Consiste em uma pesquisa exploratória com abordagem quantitativa e corte transversal. Para tanto, foi utilizado o método prospectivo de monitoramento pontual. A maior parte das academias pesquisadas utiliza Marca (85,71%). O número dessas academias que possui registro de marca é bastante reduzido (7,14%). O perfil das academias locais que possuem proteção para suas marcas é o de academias que fazem parte de redes nacionais, franquias ou academias de grande porte.
