Technological Monitoring of Cosmetic Patents for The Skin

Brazil is considered one of the main consumers for cosmetic products in the world, and therefore it is necessary to carry out technological monitoring for this topic. The research methodology consisted of searches in the ORBIT patent database. The search strategy returned a total of 9566 documents. Through the results generated, it is possible to observe the annual evolution of patent applications by priority date, in which there was an increasing curve from the year 1990 to the year 2002, however, from the year 2003 to the present day - 2020 - there has been a gradual fall in relation to publications of orders in the cosmetic area focused on the skin. In addition, Japan, the United States and Europe, in general, have been highlighted as the largest countries for filing and publishing patents in the cosmetic area for the skin. Brazil, despite not being among the first placed in the highlighted list, appears among the 20 most relevant countries, placing it as an expanding market and each day more promising in relation to the theme.
