Resumo: In an attempt to mitigate the environmental impacts caused by fossil fuels, much has been invested in alternative sources. In this área, biodiesel appears as a potential substitute since it comes from renewable sources such as oils and fats. Transesterification is the most used process, however, other routes have been studied. The present work aimed to carry out prospective survey about the processes and Technologies used in the production of biodiesel, with emphasis on the equipment involved in the production stages, through the search of patents and documents in the main databases available for research. 2.320 documents were found in the Scopus journals base of these 176 from Brazil, using the words biodiesel and equipment. In terms of patents, 379 deposits were found in the Patent Inspiration database, on these 120 Chinese, followed by United State with 11 documents and Brazil contributed with 3 patents in this segment.

Nessa vertente, o biodiesel surge como um potencial substituinte já que é oriundo de fontes renováveis como óleo e gorduras. A transesterificação é o processo mais empregado, entretanto outras rotas têm sido estudadas. O presente trabalho objetivou realizar um levantamento prospectivo a respeito dos processos e tecnologias empregados na produção de biodiesel com ênfase nos equipamentos envolvidos nas etapas de produção por meio da busca de patentes e documentos nos principais bancos de dados disponíveis para pesquisa. Foram encontrados 2.320 documentos na base de periódicos Scopus destes 176 do Brasil, usando as palavras “biodiesel” e “Equipment”.
