EMBRAPA: reestructuring to increase its contribution to innovation in the brazilian agricultural sector

Resumo: | Countries where the government, companies and research institutions treat innovation as a priority have experienced significant levels of economic development. Embrapa was created with the mission of improving the growth of Brazilian agriculture through research and innovation, transforming knowledge into technologies for the farmers. The results of national agricultural production demonstrate the fulfillment of its function, but the company needs to face the new reality in which continuous innovation processes are required. The present study was developed to demonstrate what the company has been doing to keep its relevance to Brazil. The methodology comprised a literature review and documentary evaluation. As a result it was found that the company is implementing an Innovation Macroprocess, which has restructured its research process by strengthening the technology transfer, monitoring and impact assessment. |

A Embrapa foi criada com a missão de viabilizar o crescimento da agropecuária brasileira por meio da pesquisa e da inovação, transformando os conhecimentos gerados em tecnologias para o produtor rural. Os resultados da produção agrícola nacional demonstram o cumprimento de sua função, mas a empresa precisa se amoldar à nova realidade em que são exigidos processos contínuos de inovação. O presente trabalho foi desenvolvido com objetivo de demonstrar o que a empresa tem feito para a manutenção de sua relevância para o Brasil. A metodologia compreendeu uma revisão de literatura e a avaliação de documentos.
