Resumo: | Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease that affects about 347 (three hundred forty-seven) million people worldwide, causing in some cases foot ulcerations that can lead to limb amputation. In order to provide an effective treatment option for these ulcerations, FUB filed patent PI 1103690-7 at the INPI in 2011. The patent brings the invention of the "Healing Insole for Diabetic Feet", which as from the laser technology of low frequency (LLLT) promises to treat wounds caused by Diabetes Mellitus. Thus, this article analyzed the technological qualification of this invention, as well as the viability of insertion of the technology in the market. The main strengths, weaknesses, and threats about technology were identified, and possible ways of looking at increasing the maturity of technology were identified, as well as the chances of putting it on the market. |

Com o intuito de oferecer uma opção eficaz de tratamento para essas ulcerações, a Fundação Universidade de Brasília (FUB) depositou a patente PI 1103690-7 no Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Industrial (2011). A patente traz a invenção da “Palmilha Cicatrizante para Pés Diabéticos”, que, a partir da tecnologia de laser de baixa frequência (LLLT), trata as feridas causadas pela Diabetes Mellitus. Dessa forma, este artigo analisou a qualificação tecnológica dessa invenção e a viabilidade de inserção da tecnologia no mercado.
