TUPINAMBÁ TRAJECTORY IN THE FIGHT FOR INDIGENOUS SCHOOL EDUCATION: the example of the Colégio Estadual Indígena Tupinambá Serra do Padeiro (CEITSP)

Resumo: The article presents the political project of the Tupinambá of Serra do Padeiro in relation to indigenous school education, which has required constant reorganization, in the wake of dispossession and in accordance with the collective objective of providing formal education to new generations as a means of guaranteeing rights and improvement of living conditions in the village. The period presented here also contextualizes the region of southern Bahia, paying more attention, at key moments in the trajectory of the struggle of the Tupinambá people of Olivença for ethnic recognition, for the territory and for a differentiated education – with emphasis on the Serra do Padeiro community – highlighting how moments of this trajectory intersect with Paulo Freire himself, and the importance of his work.

La période présentée ici contextualise également la région du sud de Bahia, en accordant plus d’attention à des moments clés de la trajectoire de la lutte du peuple Tupinambá d’Olivença pour la reconnaissance ethnique, pour le territoire et pour une éducation différenciée – en mettant l’accent sur la communauté de Serra do Padeiro – soulignant comment les moments de cette trajectoire se croisent avec Paulo Freire lui-même et l’importance de son travail.O artigo apresenta o projeto político dos Tupinambá da Serra do Padeiro em relação à educação escolar indígena, que tem requerido reorganização constante, na esteira do esbulho e em conformidade com o objetivo coletivo de proporcionar educação formal às novas gerações como meio de garantia de direitos e melhoria das condições de vida na aldeia.
