Resumo: This article aims to analyze the masculinities and violence in the novel The piranhas (2019), by the Italian writer Roberto Saviano. Published in 2016, the novel narrates the emergence of a gang of boys in the city of Naples, linked to the Camorra, one of the branches of the Italian mafia. Departing from the theoretical assumptions of Raewyn Connell (2005), Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick (1985), Frederic M. Trasher (1963), Michael Kimmel (2005) and Daniel Welzer-Lang (2001), we intend to analyze the meanings of masculinity experienced inside the homosocial microcosm of the gang, and how they articulate it with violence, territorialism, sexism, homophobia, and the maintenance of hegemonic masculinity.

Publicada en 2016, la novela narra el surgimiento de una pandilla de chicos en la ciudad de Nápoles, vinculados a la Camorra, una de las ramas de la mafia italiana. A partir de los presupuestos teóricos de Raewyn Connell (2005), Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick (1985), Frederic M. Trasher (1963), Michael Kimmel (2005) y Daniel Welzer-Lang (2001), pretendemos analizar los significados de la masculinidad experimentada por el microcosmo homosocial de la pandilla, y la forma en que se articulan a la violencia, el territorialismo, el sexismo, la homofobia y el mantenimiento de la masculinidad hegemónica.Este artigo objetiva a análise das masculinidades e da violência no romance Os meninos de Nápoles (2019), do escritor italiano Roberto Saviano. Publicado em 2016, o romance narra o surgimento de uma gangue de garotos na cidade de Nápoles, ligada à Camorra, uma das ramificações da máfia italiana. Partindo-se dos pressupostos teóricos de Raewyn Connell (2005), Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick (1985), Frederic M.
