“Mouth to mouth”: on how we, lesbians, got here

Resumo: In this essay, I discuss how oral sources have been used over time to preserve lesbian memories. If, on theone hand, the testimony was, many times, the only evidence of our trajectories, after deliberate erasure actions, on the other hand, the possibility of continuing to exist remained in the testimonies. I articulate this argument based on a bibliographic review that considers studies on lesbianities from Antiquity to the present. From chants sung to goddesses, through poetry and testimonials, oral culture is deeply related with lesbianities and the way we access them.

Si, por un lado, el testimonio fue, muchas veces, la única evidencia de nuestras trayectorias, después de acciones deliberadas de invisibilización, por otro lado, la posibilidad de seguir existiendo resistió en los testimonios. Articulo este argumento a partir de una revisión bibliográfica que considera estudios sobre lesbianidades desde laAntigüedad hasta la actualidad. Desde los himnos dedicados a las diosas, pasando por la poesía y los testimonios, la cultura oral está profundamente entrelazada con las lesbianidades y la forma en que accedemos a ellas.Neste ensaio, discuto como fontes orais foram mobilizadas ao longo do tempo para preservar as memórias lesbianas. Se, por um lado, o testemunho foi, muitas vezes, a única evidência de nossas trajetórias, após ações deliberadas de apagamento, por outro lado, subsistiu nos testemunhos a possibilidade de continuarmos a existir. Articulo tal argumento a partir de uma revisão bibliográfica que considera estudos sobre as lesbianidades desde a Antiguidade até o presente.
