Dentre as barreiras comportamentais, pode-se citar a estratégia de viver em grupos sociais, que é empregada por diversas espécies, e que pode ser benéfica, ainda mais quando os indivíduos se associam e cooperam com parentes próximos. Pelo fato de a reprodução ocorrer, preferencialmente, dentro do grupo social ao qual o indivíduo pertence, entende-se que a estruturação em grupos sociais pode aumentar a probabilidade de estruturação genética dentro da população. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a estrutura socio-genética de oito sub-bandos de queixadas (Tayassu pecari) do Parque Nacional das Emas e seu entorno, usando 11 locos de microssatélites. A análise da estrutura genética foi realizada comparando-se o parentesco dos indivíduos dentro e entre sub-bandos e por meio da análise bayesiana no programa STRUCTURE. A média de parentesco entre indivíduos do mesmo sub-bando foi maior do que a média de parentesco entre indivíduos de sub-bandos diferentes e o resultado da análise bayesiana revelou dois agrupamentos genéticos. Como as áreas de vida dos sub-bandos observados se sobrepõe e as distâncias geográficas entre eles são pouco significativas para a capacidade de dispersão da espécie, a diferenciação genética observada seria explicada pela organização social e não por barreiras geográficas.Natural populations are usually subdivided in subpopulations with some degree of isolation, according to spatial and behavioral barriers. Among behavioral barriers, it is the strategy of group living, that is common in many species because of the benefits of associating and cooperating with close relatives. As reproduction usually occurs inside the social group, social organization could increase the probability of population genetic structuring. Here, we evaluated the socio-genetic structure of eight subherds of white-lipped peccaries (Tayassu pecari) from the region of Emas National Park using 11 microsatellite loci. We analyzed the genetic structure by comparing the degree of relatedness intra subherds and between subherds and using the Bayesian analysis in the program STRUCTURE. The mean relatedness intra subherds was larger than the mean relatedness between subherds and the results of the Bayesian analysis showed two genetic clusters.
