Em adição a isso, este estudo confirma a possibilidade do desenvolvimento de um sistema de neurofeedback utilizando softwares com licenças gratuitas, e de que o córtex orbitofrontal pode ser utilizado como uma região alvo para neurofeedback afetivo com a fNIRS.Neurofeedback is a subtype of biofeedback in which the neurophysiological information associated with mental states is presented to the individual in order to teach him to modulate those same states. Neurofeedback is a non-invasive strategy with clinical potential for the treatment of various symptoms and psychiatric disorders. In this treatment, it is often sought to modulate the neural signal of regions involved in affective processing or emotional control, which is called affective neurofeedback. Although functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a potential tool to be used in this context, there are still few studies using it. Thus, this project aimed to: 1) Demonstrate the possibility of developing a neurofeedback system with fNIRS that can be replicated by other people using free software; 2) carry out a feasibility study of this same system in a triple blind experimental design: where both the participants and researchers involved in the collection and analysis were not aware of who had received real or false feedback. Altogether, 30 right-handed participants were randomly allocated to either a control group (which received false feedback from an empirically modeled equation) or an experimental group (where they received real feedback from their own prefrontal cortex). The defined hypothesis was that the experimental group would have a greater hemodynamic activation of oxyhemoglobin than the control group in the orbitofrontal cortex. We selected this region because it is involved in modulating emotional control. Our hypothesis was confirmed by finding a statistically significant difference (p-value = 0.049) between the groups when comparing negative to neutral visual stimuli. In addition to this, this study confirms the possibility of developing a neurofeedback system using software with free licenses, and that the orbitofrontal cortex can be used as a target region for affective neurofeedback with fNIRS.Sato, João RicardoBiazoli Júnior, Claudinei EduardoBaptista, Abrahao FontesBatistuzzo, Marcelo CamargoHeinze, Rafael Alves2020info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisapplication/pdf77 fls. : il.http://biblioteca.ufabc.edu.br/index.php?codigo_sophia=122035http://biblioteca.ufabc.edu.br/index.php?codigo_sophia=122035&midiaext=79016http://biblioteca.ufabc.edu.br/index.php?codigo_sophia=122035&midiaext=79017Cover: http://biblioteca.ufabc.edu.br/php/capa.php?obra=122035porreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFABCinstname:Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC)instacron:UFABCinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2024-04-19T08:09:36Zoai:BDTD:122035Repositório InstitucionalPUBhttp://www.biblioteca.ufabc.edu.br/oai/oai.phpopendoar:2024-04-19T08:09:36Repositório Institucional da UFABC - Universidade Federal do ABC (UFABC)false |
