São Bernardo do Campo, 2019.Esse trabalho pretende discutir as táticas utilizadas pela banda Torture Squad no sentido de sua profissionalização no underground do metal extremo brasileiro. Para isto, partese da ideia de que a banda composta de jovens trabalhadores, elaborou sua arte num contexto de precarização, promovido pelas políticas neoliberais implementadas no Brasil a partir da década de 90 do século XX. Nascido na classe operária inglesa com os acordes da banda Black Sabbath no final dos anos 60, o heavy metal foi se transformando durante as décadas de 80 e 90 a partir das disputas internas que se recusavam em ser cooptados pela indústria cultural. Gêneros como thrash, black e death metal foram construídos coletivamente a partir de uma rede de fãs e músicos que trocaram cartas, fitas k-7 e fanzines sob o lema do "Do It Yourself". Essa proposta solidária do underground vai sendo tencionada pelas pautas da racionalidade neoliberal, que transforma os sujeitos em empresários de si, onde o discurso do empreendedorismo e individualismo parece tomar conta de toda vida social. O campo da produção cultural não está imune aos ataques da lógica mercantil, mesmo em estilos musicais que originariamente se colocam num lugar de crítica a cultura institucionalizada, como por exemplo o heavy metal, é preciso capturar a complexidade da ação dos seus sujeitos, para além da articulação da identidade musical, situando-os na condição de artistas precários para aqueles e aquelas que atuam no underground brasileiro. Estar "entre" é dialogar nessa região de fronteira, permitindo-nos escapar as dicotomias e simplificações entre underground x mainstream, mercado x arte, alcançando dessa forma outros lugares de atuação. Entre a lógica do "faça você mesmo" e "empresa de si", o metal precário da Torture Squad é articulado como um modo de vida, onde o sonho de seus integrantes é poder viver exclusivamente da arte musical produzida por sua banda.This work aims to discuss the tactics used by the band Torture Squad in the sense of their professionalization in the underground of the extreme Brazilian metal. For this, it starts from the idea that the band composed of young workers, elaborated their art in a context of precariousness, promoted by the neoliberal policies implemented in Brazil from the 90th century. Born in the English working class with the chords of the band Black Sabbath in the late 1960s, heavy metal was transforming during the 1980s and 1990s from internal disputes that refused to be co-opted by the cultural industry. Genres such as thrash, black and death metal were collectively constructed from a network of fans and musicians who exchanged letters, k-7 tapes and fanzines under the motto of "Do It Yourself". This proposed solidarity of the underground is being intended by the agendas of neoliberal rationality, which transforms the subjects into businessmen of themselves, where the discourse of entrepreneurship and individualism seems to take over all social life. The field of cultural production is not immune to the attacks of mercantile logic, even in musical styles that originatein institutionalized culture, such as heavy metal, it is necessary to capture the complexity of the action of its subjects, in addition to the articulation of musical identity, placing them as precarious artists for those and those who work in the Brazilian underground. Being "between" is dialogue in this border region, allowing us to escape the dichotomies and simplifications between underground x mainstream, market x art, thus reaching other places of activity.
