São Bernardo do Campo, 2023A presente dissertação tem como objetivo analisar os fatores que levaram a expansão da indústria religiosa no Brasil. Para tanto, foi necessário entender a gênese desse processo através das principais concepções sobre o fenômeno religioso, compreendendo como o mesmo se relaciona com o modo de produção capitalista. A ideia de indústria religiosa é desenvolvida a partir da ideia de indústria cultural, que tem no sistema de produção capitalista o seu embasamento. Partimos da hipótese de que a ascensão dos movimentos pentecostais e neopentecostais, juntamente com o desenvolvimento de uma teologia da prosperidade, além das facilidades legais, facilitaram o estabelecimento e a expansão dessa indústria religiosa no Brasil. Desta forma, o presente trabalho buscou entender, nos capítulos que se seguem, os elementos centrais para definição de indústria religiosa, as estruturas econômicas, sociais e políticas que cercam este fenômeno no Brasil. Além de finalizar o trabalho com um estudo de caso de uma das mais bem sucedidas e reconhecidas "empresas religiosas" do mundo, que é a Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD).This dissertation aims to analyze the factors that led to the expansion of the religious industry in Brazil. Therefore, it was necessary to understand the genesis of this process through the main conceptions about the religious phenomenon, understanding how it relates to the capitalist mode of production. The idea of religious industry is developed from the idea of cultural industry, which has its basis in the capitalist production system. We start from the hypothesis that the rise of Pentecostal and Neo-Pentecostal movements, together with the development of a theology of prosperity, in addition to legal facilities, facilitated the establishment and expansion of this religious industry in Brazil. In this way, the present work sought to understand, in the chapters that follow, the central elements for defining religious industry, the economic, social and political structures that surround this phenomenon in Brazil.
