Dropouts in Professional and Technological Education: ideologies, conceptions, tensions and disputes surrounding it

Resumo: | School dropout is a complex phenomenon historically present in Brazilian education, which involves multiple factors, dialectically interconnecting social, economic, political and cultural issues, which, in times of crisis such as the current pandemic, has affected even more students with greater social vulnerability. Reflection on the conceptions and ideologies that permeate and represent dropout in education, particularly in professional and technological education, as well as the analysis of its effects on the possibilities of an emancipating education, which overcomes its reproduction, thus assumes an imperative character. In order to deepen the reflection on the theme, we have tried to establish a dialogue between authors who study the subject, such as Dubet, Fornari, Fritsch, Canário, among others, and those who support the debates on professional education, such as Ciavatta, Frigotto, Ramos, as well as other scholars who discuss educational issues from a critical perspective. As a result, it became evident a project in dispute within the institutions of professional and technological education, in which the school dropout serves and reinforces a project of capitalist society, intensified in times of crisis, such as the current pandemic, and based on principles such as meritocracy, individualization, and blaming its subjects. Studies and research have pointed out the need to understand the complex totality that surrounds the dropout phenomenon, in order to propose and develop actions in defense of an education with a critical perspective centered on human emancipation, as an expectation for its overcoming. |

Reflexionar sobre las concepciones e ideologías que permean y representan el abandono escolar en la educación, particularmente en la educación profesional y tecnológica, así como analizar sus efectos sobre las posibilidades de una educación emancipadora que supere su reproducción asume, así, un carácter imperativo. Para profundizar en la reflexión sobre el tema, hemos intentado establecer un diálogo entre los autores que estudian el tema, como Dubet, Fornari, Fritsch, Canário, entre otros, con los que sostienen los debates sobre la educación profesional, como los realizados por Ciavatta, Frigotto, Ramos, involucrando también a otros estudiosos que destacan las cuestiones de la educación desde una perspectiva crítica. Como resultado, se hizo evidente un proyecto en disputa dentro de las instituciones de educación profesional en el que la deserción escolar sirve y refuerza un proyecto de sociedad capitalista, intensificado en tiempos de crisis, como la actual pandemia, y basado en principios como la meritocracia, la individualización y la culpabilización de sus sujetos. Los estudios e investigaciones señalaron la necesidad de comprender la compleja totalidad que envuelve el fenómeno para proponer y desarrollar acciones en defensa de una educación con perspectiva crítica centrada en la emancipación humana, como expectativa de su superación.O abandono escolar é um fenômeno complexo historicamente presente na educação brasileira, que envolve múltiplos fatores, inter-relacionando dialeticamente questões sociais, econômicas, políticas e culturais, que, em tempos de crises como a da atual pandemia, tem afetado ainda mais os alunos com maior vulnerabilidade social. Refletir sobre as concepções e ideologias que permeiam e representam o abandono escolar na educação, em particular na educação profissional e tecnológica, bem como analisar os seus efeitos sobre as possibilidades de uma educação emancipadora, que supere a sua reprodução, assume, assim, um caráter imperativo. Visando aprofundar as reflexões a respeito da questão, procurou-se estabelecer diálogo entre autores que se debruçam sobre a temática, como Dubet, Fornari, Fritsch, Canário, dentre outros, com aqueles que debatem sobre educação profissional como Ciavatta, Frigotto, Ramos, envolvendo também outros estudiosos que evidenciam as questões da educação a partir de uma perspectiva crítica. Como resultado evidenciou-se um projeto em disputa no âmbito de instituições de educação profissional no qual o abandono escolar serve e reforça um projeto de sociedade capitalista, intensificado em tempos de crises, como a da atual pandemia, e baseado em princípios como a meritocracia, individualização e culpabilização de seus sujeitos.
