This paper presents the analysis of the relation between hate and social bonds in contemporaneity, focusing in the social riots of 2013 in Brazil. The text underlines the particular demonstrations of anger and destructiveness devoted to representatives of capitalist luxury and fruition, understood as signs of uneasiness in contemporary culture. The authors, based in Freudian studies about culture, make questions about the hole of hatred in the constitution of social bonds, bringing to the central stage the relations between the subject and the meaning of others (alter), together with the sense and feeling of been treated as object. Therefore, the paper exposes the insufficient explanations exposed in social media about the riots, mainly when they stressed only acts of violence and vandalism as mere nonsense, ignoring the social rejection suffered by the poor, blacks, gays, women and other groups despised by capitalist society.
