Investigation of evasion in the integrated technical teaching of IFBA - campus Simões Filho

Faced with the reality of the dropout of students in technical courses integrated to high school at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia - IFBA, this article aims to understand, within the perceptions of students and course coordinators, what the causes of this occurrence. As specific objectives we will: a) Identify retention points in the course's curriculum; b) Identify the causes of dropout and retention in the course; c) Identify the trend indicators that influence dropout and retention. As a methodology, the research is classified as explanatory with a qualitative approach. The procedures used were: 1. Questionnaire with objective questions for students; 2. Semi-structured interviews with the course coordinators and 3. Documentary analysis of the projects of the integrated technical courses: Electromechanics, Mechanics, Oil and Gas and Metallurgy. 4. Questionnaire applied to Academic Resources Management (GRA) in order to understand how the sector behaves in relation to dropout.  We realized that the main reasons for dropout in the perception of coordinators and students were: 1. Duration of the course, 2. Strikes and stoppages during the school year, and 3. Pandemic of the New Corona Virus.
