ATTRIBUTES THAT ATTRACT THE GENERATION Y IN CHOOSING EMPLOYMENT: AN ANALYSIS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF SENIOR STUDENTS

Resumo: The way which Generation Y perceives and values employment is different from the priorgenerations, requiring companies to adapt in order to recruit and retain this generation’sprofessionals. The main objective of this study is to analyze the attributes that attractGeneration Y employees in employment choice, a set of data was collected by questionnairepresented to students in final phases of undergraduate courses in Universidade Regional deBlumenau (FURB). The analyzed attributes were: work routine, personal interactions,professional development, economic benefits and social responsibility. The results reveal thatthis generation values all the approached aspects, but in different ways. This study hasimplications to practices regarding the improvement of ways to captivate and retain talent inthis generation.

El objetivo de este estudio es analizar los atributos que atraen a la Generación Yen la elección de su trabajo, se ha realizado este trabajo, en el que se recoge un conjunto dedatos por medio de cuestionarios aplicados junto a estudiantes en fin de carrera enUniversidade Regional de Blumenau (FURB). Se analizan los atributos asociados a la rutinadel trabajo, la interacción personal, el desarrollo profesional, los beneficios económicos y laresponsabilidad social. Los resultados revelan que la muestra valora de distintas maneras losatributos examinados. El estudio tiene implicaciones prácticas para las empresas en lo que serefiere a las capacidades y la permanencia de los trabajadores de esta generación.A forma como a Geração Y valoriza o emprego é diferente das gerações anteriores, o que requere que as empresas se adaptem para captar e reter profissionais dessa geração. O objetivo geral deste estudo é identificar quais os atributos que atraem a Geração Y na escolha do emprego. Para tanto, coletaram-se dados por questionário junto a estudantes próximos ao final da graduação na Universidade Regional de Blumenau (FURB). Neste trabalho, analisam-se os atributos rotina de trabalho, interação pessoal, desenvolvimento profissional, benefícios econômicos e responsabilidade social. Os resultados revelaram que essa geração valoriza de maneiras diferentes todos os atributos analisados.
