Resumo: The aim of this paper is to present the contributions of the French philosopher Paul Ricoeur and the Brazilian social psychologist Antonio da Costa Ciampa to the critique of identity. In addition, the article points out the different categories developed by the authors (sameness and selfhood) to address the problems encountered: a) the permanence of identity at the time and b) the appearance of nonmetamorphosis of identity. Finally, it is presented the proximities and differences in their perspectives in order to provide the reader with important elements for research and studies about the identity nowadays.

Para tanto, trata-se de discutir como os dois autores desenvolveram suas teorias sobre a identidade narrativa e identidade metamorfose. Além disso, o artigo assinala as diferentes categorias desenvolvidas pelos autores (mesmidade e ipseidade; mesmice e mesmidade) ao tratar dos problemas que se depararam: a) permanência da identidade no tempo e b) aparência de não-metamorfose da identidade.
