Resumo: The purpose of this essay is to reflect and think about barbarism within the current stage of civilization, against the backdrop of the contemporary refugee crisis. We chose as the north of the research the developments of the question of the Father in psychoanalytic theory and the theoretical production of some thinkers from other fields of knowledge, with which it is possible to establish interdisciplinary dialogues about violence, cruelty and the destruction of social ties.
