The information society requires people and institutions, conditions and skills to acquire information. As institutions, especially those responsible for making your information available, acquire your activities to achieve this goal. In this way, archives, as part of these institutions and, throughout history, will contribute to the preservation of their memories. For a public institution of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), with its information professionals, it has a social responsibility. In the present study, the search can show information as it is an intermediate component among the people of this society, favoring changes in the way of being as well as in the way in which the institutions structure their actions. Together, analyze a record from the Archive of the Health Sciences Center (CCS), which is the channel of study, knowledge and understanding of the part of the institutional memory of UFPB, authorized by the Medical School.
