Information architecture is a knowledge area which provides a theoretical basis to structuring and arranging information in digital environment. Based on these area principles, this investigation tries to understand how information architecture can help in the elaboration of learning digital environments (LDE). After the presentation of concepts included in the universes of learning virtual environment and information architecture, then binding together both worlds, it is concluded that the collaborative learning can only be achieved through the creation of a soft, intuitive, practical and functional environment. The LDE must be customized considering its users, thus ensuring a better link structuring, as well as the access to information and to the published content. The most relevant contribution of this research is the proposal of a discussion that will be useful on the later development of educational and digital information environments that consider informational architecture principles.
