Resumo: Objective: to identify the reasons that led families of children to vaccine hesitancy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: qualitative study with semi-structured interviews carried out with 20 children's relatives, all of which were mothers of hospitalized children. Data was submitted to lexicographical analysis in the software Interface de R pour les Analyses Multidimensionnelles de Textes et de Questionnaires, using descending hierarchical classification. Results: the fear of leaving one’s house during the pandemic and the lack of vaccine supplies were the reasons found for vaccine hesitancy in the family of children during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: the reasons for vaccine hesitancy in the families of children found in this study threaten advancements in the struggle against vaccine-preventable diseases.  Contributions to the practice: government bodies, managers, and health unit nurses should be co-responsible for efficient measures to implement health education in this public, creating a bond of trust to reduce the risks from the increase in vaccine hesitancy and reduction in vaccine coverage in the country.

Universidade Federal do Ceará2023-09-13info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfapplication/pdfhttp://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/article/view/8925310.15253/2175-6783.20232489253Rev Rene; Vol. 24 (2023): Rev Rene; e89253Rev Rene; v. 24 (2023): Rev Rene; e892532175-67831517-3852reponame:Rev Rene (Online)instname:Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)instacron:UFCporenghttp://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/article/view/89253/249706http://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/article/view/89253/249708Copyright (c) 2023 Rev Reneinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessViana, Izabella da SilvaCursino, Emília GallindoSilva, Liliane Faria daMachado, Maria Estela DinizVaz, Elenice Maria Cecchetti2023-09-20T12:23:28Zoai:periodicos.ufc:article/89253Revistahttp://periodicos.ufc.br/renePUBhttp://periodicos.ufc.br/rene/oairene@ufc.br||2175-67831517-3852opendoar:2023-09-20T12:23:28Rev Rene (Online) - Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)false
