Resumo: The objective of the research was to learn about the opinion of a group of caretakers concerning basic immunization in thecommunity of Milagres – CE. It’s an exploratory and descriptive research, accomplished with 16 caretakers. We used as na instrument to collect data a semi-structured interview during the months of May and July, 2007. To organize this data it was used the strategy of collective subject discourse. The results showed that all the caretakers were mothers, confirming, therefore, that it is the mother who takes more responsibility in caring for the child. In general, for the interviewed women, the greatest benefit from immunization is the prevention of diseases and they stated that mothers regularly care about their children’s vaccination. The information about immunization was obtained through several ways, from the media to the health professionals. We believe that discussing this subject with that group of people is fundamental, through an educational process, reminding them about the importance of the immunization practice, promoting health to their childre
