Resumo: This study aims at verifying the social, economic and cultural profile of a group of adolescents who have already experienced motherhood once or more than once. It is an exploratory and descriptive study in a group of 30 adolescents attended at the Assis Chateaubriand Maternity School from February 27 to March 27, 2002. Most youngsters studied had low social and economic level, with two or more children and lived in agreement with their companions. We concluded that an intervention to change the profile of those adolescents is necessary and, therefore, to break the recurrent cycle of pregnancy in this age.
