Resumo: The objective of this research was to analyze the concepts of communication, acceptance and health education in nursing consultation in gynecology to climacteric women. A descriptive study with a qualitative approach was used with five nurses in a reference institution in gynecology in Fortaleza-Ceará-Brazil. They used semi-structured interviews and observation of clinical gynecology consultations from August to September 2008. The data made it possible to organize the research like the following: communication and reception on nursing consultation in gynecology; health education to climacteric women during nursing consultation in gynecology. The results revealed that health education is understood as health information and that there is dissociation between theory and practice concerning reception and communication to climacteric women. It is suggested a changing in nursing practice to such customs.
