Resumo: | The aim of this research was to investigate the main causes of morbidity - mortality among eldest people from 1998 to 2003, compare the incidence of respiratory infections among old people during the year 1998 with the prevalence of that infections within the period of 1999-2003 and also, to investigate in the midst of the aged which age-group and sex are more affected by respiratory infections and fi nally to describe the impact of pneumococcal vaccination on population of this aged comparing the hood vaccine with the number of cases for respiratory infections. For the collecting of information it was used the archives of the SIM, of the SIH and SIAB. In 1998 predominated the obituary for respiratory infections and for badly defi ned causes. Within the period of 1999 and 2003 predominated morbidity for fl u pneumonia and bronchitis. The annual vaccination campaigns had an impact to prevent the morbidity - mortality, but the adhesion to vaccination decreased yearly. It is suggested that a correction is made in the register book, major investigation etiological, major preventive interventions and health education lined into the epidemiological context of health of the county. |
