Resumo: Environmental health is an important issue to be discussed, once it is related to human welfare. We aimed with this research to investigate the theme: environmental health in Brazilian thesis and dissertations. It is a bibliographical research carried out with the support of abstracts available in the capes thesis database through the portal via library. Environmental education as well as environment and solid residues were the subject matters of this research, through which 60 productions were found from 1999 to 2006. We verified that there was an increase in the number of productions on this theme and the area of Exact Sciences and Earth was the most sensitive to this theme; however, the studies were carried out in greater quantity in the master course to diagnose/ learn about the reality. We observed few studies with the objective of educative implementation. Therefore, we got to the conclusion that, it is necessary to elaborate researches which have environmental education as focus of intervention.
