Imaginary as the Unimaginable. Roger Bastide's 'rez de chaussée' sociology

Resumo: The article dedicated to Roger Bastide intends to identify what it might be a possible bias in the author's thought, based on his notions of imaginary and unconscious. Although his attempt to identify what might be the decanting of Africa through brasilian syncretism, Bastide did not testify the existence of an independent self-representation of subalternal class. This can be detected in his studies about the black poets's lyricism in Brasil. There would be no african traces in their poetry. This assumption reveals what it might have been a possible affiliation of Bastide to Durkheim tradition because of an excessively sociological interpretation of the notions of imaginary and unconscious and an agreement with enssay of Gilberto Freyre.

É que, apesar de ter tentado identificar o que seria a decantação da África em meio a trama sincrética cultural brasileira, Bastide não testemunhou existir uma auto-representação independente para a camada subordinada. É o que se depreende de seus estudos sobre o lirismo dos poetas negros no Brasil. Não haveria traços africanos na poesia.
