Resumo: Within the theme of the relationship between education, social inequalities and poverty, the purpose of the article is to present the design and methodological challenges of a research in progress on the school pathways of students linked to the Bolsa Família Program (BFP), in the states of Ceará and Paraná. The research focuses on a cohort of students who were born in 2002 and who are followed for a period of 3 years (2015 to 2017). It is a quantitative research, with transversal and longitudinal analysis, carried out in an interinstitutional and interdisciplinary way. In this step, it uses a database created from the School Attendance Monitoring System of the Bolsa Família Program (Presence System). By comparing theoretical and methodological elements, it introduces problems and mobilizes possible strategies for the treatment of information, which have the potential to explain the analyzed reality.

A pesquisa centra-se em uma coorte de estudantes que nasceram em 2002 e que são acompanhados por um período de 3 anos (2015 a 2017). Trata-se de uma pesquisa de caráter quantitativo, com análise transversal e longitudinal, realizada de modo interinstitucional e interdisciplinar. Nesta etapa, ela se vale de um banco de dados criado a partir do Sistema de Acompanhamento da Frequência Escolar do Programa Bolsa Família (Sistema Presença).
