Resumo: As one of the results of the Pataxó Youth Advance Project: So-cial Formation and Professional Qualification of Indigenous Peoples of the Pataxó Ethnicity of the Costa do Descobrimento Identity Territory this article aims to outline the public policiesaimed at youth and to present demographic and socioeconomic aspects of the Young Pataxó of Bahia based on qualitative research with the application of a semistructured questionnaire conducted with 345 young people from 12 (twelve) indigenous villages. The analysis of the results reveals that the challengeof constructing, perfecting and implementing new projects and actions aimed at improving the quality of life of the population under study and their social formation and professional quali-fication among other aspects means the elaboration of difficult proposals which imply social, cultural and values changes.Keywords: Education; Public Policy; Indigenous Population;Pataxó People; Demographic and Socioeconomic Aspects.

A análise dos resultados revela que o desafio de construir, aperfeiçoar e implantar novos projetos e ações voltadas para a melhoria da qualidade de vida da população em estudo e para a sua formação social e qualificação profissional, entre outros aspectos, significa a elaboração de difíceis propostas que implicam mudanças sociais, culturais e de valores.
