On Experiences and Researche with Images in the Graffiti and Street Art World

Resumo: In this essay I try reworking an experience while exposing aa research path that begins in Brazil with youth cultures and identities listed in a comparative milestone with existing ones in Mexico. Specifi cally dealing the issue of images use for research in social sciences, which are its limits, whatare its possibilities. Start the text showing the research context I have been doing since 2012 in Mexico and Brazil on graffi ti and status that images have in this universe of social practices. I present an outline of my understanding of what are the images and the use of photography for sociology. I expose some situations such as images / snapshots to think about the consequences and implications that this experience / experiment has provided for the agents involved.

I expose some situations such as images / snapshots to think about the consequences and implications that this experience / experiment has provided for the agents involved.Neste ensaio, reelaboro uma experiência e ao mesmo tempo exponho um percurso de pesquisa que se inicia no Brasil, sobre culturas e identidades juvenis inscritas num marco comparativo com as existentes no México. Trato especificamente do uso de imagens na pesquisa em Ciências Sociais, examinando seus limites e suas possibilidades. Inicio o texto discorrendo sobre o contexto da pesquisa que venho realizando desde 2012, no México e no Brasil, sobre o graffiti e o estatuto que as imagens têm nesse universo de práticas sociais. Apresento um esboço de meu entendimento sobre o que são as imagens e o usoda fotografi a para a sociologia.
