Resumo: This article presents a group reflection surrounding important contributions by Carlos Nelson Coutinho to the social sciences, as an analyst of Gramsci’s work. The authors of this article position Coutinho as a thinker, intellectual and militant, within the context of Brazilian political life, since the 1960s, and in these terms, identify him as a prolific specialist of Gramsci’s thought, looked upon in the academic milieu as one of its principal interpreters.
