Resumo: To what extent is Machiavelli’s legacy present in Hannah Arendt’s thought? How can we evaluate the dialogue between a thinker so preoccupied with politics’ libertarian dimension, such as Arendt, and Machiavelli, whose com- prehension of politics is linked to the conquest and mainte- nance of power? This work tries to reconstruct the dialogue between the two authors through Arendt’s references to Machiavelli’s works as well as her interpretations of his ideas. The text focuses on the following topics: the concept of foundation; the public and private spheres; politics and action; and thinking and action.
