“Xique Chique” Style: consumption of popular culture in the metropolis of São Paulo

Resumo: The aim of the text is to discuss, from selected bibliography, in which circumstances the traditional folk culture is revalued at the end of the twentieth century, joining a new moment in the history of the appropriation of practices related to it. Then, from the examples raised in empirical research, the text aims to verify the place occupied by this new universe of stylistic possibilities in the cultural consumption market. To conclude, based on the theoretical framework of Pierre Bourdieu, it argues about the importance of considering the relationship of social class in this and in the analysis of consumption and lifestyle in general.

Em seguida, a partir dos exemplos levantados em pesquisa empírica, o texto busca verificar o lugar ocupado por esse novo universo de possibilidades estilísticas no mercado de consumo cultural.
