Perspectives on women climacteric : concepts and impacts on health basic care

Objective: To learn about the prospects of climacteric women seen at the Primary Health Care (PHC). Methods: A quantitative and qualitative approach and exploratory nature, carried out in three Basic Health Unit (UBS) of Cajazeiras / PB. The sample consisted of 40 women aged 40-65 years. Data collection was performed in May 2011, through a roadmap for semi-structured interviews. For data analysis, we used the thematic content analysis proposed by Bardin (2009). Results: The study showed that the majority of women surveyed did not know the meaning of climacteric, correlating climacteric with menopause. All women reported hot flushes as the main disturbance typical of climacteric, other reported depressive states, insomnia, anxiety and lack of libido. Conclusion: The availability of health services and actions the user climacteric women of Primary reactions and may cause negative influences at this stage of their life cycle.
